UPCYCLE VANITY FOR A BATHROOM MAKEOVER
A bathroom makeover need not be expensive. Along with a fresh coat of paint, upcycling old furniture can be a fun and thrifty way to give your bathroom the facelift it is due for.
With the right piece of furniture and a little DIY you can make an original looking vanity.
HOW TO CREATE AN ORIGINAL DIY BATHROOM VANITY
This New Zealand made video shows you how to turn a cupboard into a vanity.
In this case some secondhand furniture and stainless steel basins bought off Trade Me were turned into a kitchen bench for a tiny home, but the same DIY instructions apply for a bathroom basin, or one for the laundry. The total cost for this one was NZ$500 but a similar result could be achieved for even less by buying furniture from a council recycle centre.
The quality of old furniture can far outweigh some of the cheap, short-lasting, imported units available. If you can't afford to buy a quality new bathroom vanity or just enjoy DIY and upcycling, it's a great way to achieve an original makeover for your bathroom on a budget.

TIP: Rub a candle on grout to protect it from absorbing moisture and dirt .
OTHER WAYS TO GIVE YOUR BATHROOM A FRESH LOOK
Giving your bathroom a fresh coat of paint is the perfect opportunity for a declutter, as everything has to be removed for the project.
You can further freshen your look by shopping online for new bathroom towels and a shower curtain if you use one, or other bathroom decor. There are some stylish shower curtains to be found online that you won't find at the big box stores.
If you are planning to sell your house, home staging your bathroom along with the rest of your house to appeal to buyers is a must. Think motel standard even if you aren't replacing the shower and bath. You can make the rest of it look good with some fresh, fluffy towels and a decluttered look, and anything you buy you can take with you to your new home.
